Stocks rose Friday after fresh jobs data showed U.S. unemployment ticked down in December and a potential Supreme Court ruling on tariffs failed to pan out. Vistra stock surged 11% and Oklo jumped 7.9% after the nuclear energy companies unveiled separate agreements to provide power to Meta Platforms in order to support the hyperscaler’s data-center campus in Ohio. Meta inched up 1.1%.
Trump met with Intel Chief Executive Officer Lip-Bu Tan on Thursday at the White House, where the two men discussed the company’s new line of processors following the US government’s purchase of shares in the chipmaker. In a post to his Truth Social network, Trump hailed recent advances at Santa Clara, California-based Intel, whose shares are up about 90% since plans emerged last year for the federal government to buy as much as 10% of the company.
